Getting Started with Brivo

General Information

This integration allows property management to manage per-resident access groups, physical card credentials, and resident access through the BuildingLink mobile app and Brivo Mobile Pass.

Residents added or deactivated in BuildingLink are immediately synced with Brivo to grant or revoke access respectively. 

Synced fields include:

• Id
• ExternalId
• FirstName
• MiddleName
• LastName
• PhoneNumbers
• Emails 

How to assign Access Control Permissions

To assign Brivo credentials to a resident, go to the Quick Search field and enter either the resident's Unit Number or Name and select the unit to load the Unit Overview page.  Next, click the three dots on the top right of the resident's occupant card and click Edit Occupant. Next, select the Brivo Integration tab.

Use the “Groups” dropdown menu to assign a Brivo Group to your resident.

Note: Property staff can manage access group assignments in BuildingLink, which will sync with Brivo automatically. However, access groups created in Brivo (beyond what is uploaded during the initial sync) will not automatically sync with BuildingLink. 

To add a new group, create it in BuildingLink first by going to the Settings tab, selecting Brivo Groups, and clicking Add group; these will automatically sync to Brivo, where you can configure their access points.

You can also use the "Wiegand credentials" section to assign a physical access card (or fob) to your resident (optional).

To add a card, enter the Facility Code and Card Number, and click the Add a Card button. The Facility Code is printed on the box containing the physical access cards. The Card Number can be found on each physical access card.

If access cards have already been set up in Brivo, click the Select Cards from Brivo Card Bank link. Access cards set up in Brivo may be added from the resulting popup window.

Use the “Digital Credentials” section to enable mobile app permissions for your resident (only one digital option may be assigned to a single resident).

• The Use BuildingLink Resident App option grants the resident access control from the BuildingLink Resident App.
• The Use Brivo Mobile Pass option grants the resident access control from the Brivo Mobile Pass app. Please note that an email address is required.

 Click the Save occupant button. 

How can Residents access their Access Controls using the BuildingLink App?

From the app home screen, tap the  icon. Next, tap Use digital key and select a door to open.
