Barcode Scanner Troubleshooting

If your barcode scanner is not scanning barcodes properly, use the steps below to troubleshoot the problem.

  1. Unplug the barcode scanner and plug it back into a different USB port. If you barcode scanner is plugged into a USB hub, unplug it and plug it directly into the computer. Also be sure that any USB hubs you are using for BuildingLink equipment are powered USB hubs.
  2.  Reset the barcode scanner to factory defaults. For Zebra barcode scanners, click here and scan the Set Factory Defaults barcode. You may need to print the page before scanning.

If you have a Motorola symbol barcode scanner, click here instead and print out the quick start guide. Scan the four barcodes on the left side under Miscellaneous Settings in order. The barcode scanner will beep after each scan. Wait until each set of beeps is complete before scanning the next barcode.
