Installing Connector with the BuildingLink Universal Installer
Click here to download Connector through our Universal Installer: Download Connector. The following screenshots will guide you through the installation process:
You will need a valid BuildingLink login to install Connector. We have created one in your building, a “virtual” employee called BuildingLink Install which can be accessed by clicking on Employees, clicking on the BuildingLink Install employee, and choosing either the Email Login Info or Print Login Info button to view the login credentials. If you don't see this employee listed, simply add a front-desk level employee with the first name BuildingLink and last name Install.
If you like, you can change the name of your computer by clicking on the pencil icon.
Click the Add button to the right of Connector and select Install.
Select all of the peripherals you will be using, then click Next. Connector will automatically install the drivers for the peripherals you select.
Click on the grey box to accept the Terms and Conditions and then click Install.
A series of screens will appear throughout the installation process but there is no need to click on anything. The installation may take several minutes. Once the setup is complete, click "Ok" to launch Connector.
Accessing/Understanding Connector and Installing New Peripheral Devices
If you have Connector installed on your computer, it is generally open and running in the background. To find it, click on the upward facing arrow on the taskbar; this will show your hidden icons. If it still does not appear, you will need to reopen Connector by double clicking on the Connector Icon from the desktop.
Once Connector is open, you'll see a list of BuildingLink peripherals and their statuses. There are three statuses: a red exclamation point (drivers are installed but device is not connected/responding), an N/A sign (drivers are not installed) and a green check mark (drivers are installed and device is connected/responding).
To install a new peripheral device, simply click on the device in question (which will have an N/A indicator) and select Download & Install Driver.
Checking if Connector is Installed/Troubleshooting Connector
To confirm if your computer has Connector already installed, please go to the Start Menu (by clicking on the Start Menu or pressing the Windows key on your keyboard) and type Connector. If you see a result that looks like this – Connector by BuildingLink – then it is already installed.
If you do NOT see Connector by BuildingLink, then follow the instructions above on how to install it.
If Connector has been installed, but BuildingLink is having trouble connecting to it, start by opening Connector (by clicking the icon on the desktop or Start menu). Once the program launches, you may receive a prompt to install an update; please do so. Use any of the Device Status buttons on the left panel to test the equipment.
If you are still having issues with Connector after following the above steps, please call our Support team at 877-501-7117 ext. 0.
Troubleshooting Peripherals with Connector
If a red exclamation point is showing but the device is plugged in to the computer, please check to make sure that all wires are securely connected to a working USB port and/or power outlet. If all wires are securely plugged in, try unplugging the device and replugging it into a different port. This will often fix the issue, since sometimes specific USB ports can be faulty and the issue could be that the device is simply not receiving enough power.
If a green check mark appears next to a device but that device is not working in BuildingLink, the issue most likely has to do with your browser. Check out our browser settings troubleshooting help article for more information.
