Installing KeyLink
To install any program within BuildingLink, you must first install the Universal Installer.
Once installed you will be asked to enter your BuildingLink Username and Password. This will determine what programs are available to download. If you login with a user that does not have KeyLink active on their account, then that option will not be listed.
You will find KeyLink at the bottom of the window, click Add.
If you do not already have connector installed, you will need to install that as well. Once all the programs you need are selected click Install at the bottom.
Next you must accept the Terms & Conditions for the download will start and it will go through a couple windows.
Note: Depending on your internet connection this may take anywhere from a few moments to up 30 minutes. If you software has not installed after 30 minutes please contact BuildingLink Support.
Click the Ok button to launch KeyLink.
Opening KeyLink for the First Time
When you open KeyLink for the first time you will see the title page.
You will then need to login as a some who has Admin permissions in KeyLink. (To learn more about Configuring Permissions in KeyLink click here.)
Next select the computer the KeyLink system is connected to, usually, there is only one computer and one option. However, some properties may have multiple locations where they will need access to keys. For example, North and South Towers, or a system for the Front Desk, and one for the Maintenance Office.
Note: If the wrong system is selected, you will need to uninstall and reinstall KeyLink to select the correct system.
Finally, you may get a pop up which will show you that the information is syncing before you see the KeyLink Home Screen.
Configure your Drawer(s)
You can rename and reorder your drawers as well as delete any removed drawers (as removed drawers will otherwise still show in the KeyLink application in red and labeled as "Disconnected") using the Drawer Configuration button. You will need to have the Admin KeyLink Role to configure your drawer(s). First make sure the drawer(s) is connected to the computer, then click Administration, authenticate then click Drawer Configuration.
Select Your Peripheral and Back-up Devices
You will need to have the Admin KeyLink Role to select the devices you want to use with your KeyLink system. First make sure the devices are connected to the computer, then click Administration then Device Configuration and Diagnostics.
You will see a list of device selection options, choose your device(s) from the dropdown menu then click Save.
Register your Emergency Fob
In the event of a system failure where the KeyLink application is unavailable (computer failure, KeyLink is down, etc.) and the drawer(s) has power then you can use the Emergency Fob or the Manual Override Key for the lock in the back of the drawer. However, the Emergency Fob will be a faster option in this scenario since it doesn't require you to gain access to the back of the drawer. For this reason, the Emergency Fob should NEVER be stored within the KeyLink drawer (s), but in a separate secure location that all staff can access.
Click on the My Account button on the KeyLink home screen and select Keyfob/Pin management after logging in with your BuildingLink username and password.
Tap the fob to the round button reader in front of the drawer so that it can register the serial number. Enter a four-digit PIN code if you wish to also use this fob as a regular entry method instead of logging in with your fingerprint or username/password.(Note: Your PIN is not masked onscreen,so please take appropriate measures to ensure privacy.)
For the fob to work if the computer is not working, open BuildingLink and click on the Other tab, then click on Permissions at the top of the page. Click Edit Roles next to the person's name who you'd like to register the fob to. Keep in mind, even though you're registering the fob to a specific person, anyone can use the fob in an emergency. Next, select "Yes" to make the fob an emergency fob. Click Update.
Finally, click the Sync to BuildingLink button on the KeyLink home screen then try it out. Touch the fob to the round sensor on the front drawer and enter your pin to remove a key.
