Depending on your building setup options, there may be multiple tabs available in this menu.
Settings for the Directory of Local Businesses
The Directory of Local Businesses can be renamed to reflect how your building is using the directory (for example, "Building Approved Vendors"). To change the name of the Directory of Local Businesses, navigate to the Settings Tab and select General Building Set-Up Options. Scroll down to the section titled (35) Directory of Local Vendors. Type in the desired title next to the Alternate Name for the Directory of Local Vendors button on the Resident Portal home page.
You can also add instructions or a disclaimer to the Directory of Local Businesses. To enter additional information, type your instructions or disclaimer in the field provided. (For example: “The information provided below is for residents’ convenience only. The building does not take responsibility for work done by any contractors listed.”)
Adding companies to the Directory of Local Businesses
To add a company to the Directory of Local Businesses, click the green Add companies from BuildingLink’s master list button on the Directory of Local Business Tab.
On the following menu, you can view all companies currently on BuildingLink’s Master List. The Master List is comprised of companies other BuildingLink buildings have added to their own Directory of Local Businesses. Since these companies are pulled from other buildings' directories, you are less likely to have to enter contact information for well-known companies yourself. To search the Master List, fill out the search fields at the top of the screen and click the blue Search button.
You can also scroll through the Master List and view all companies available. If you’d like to confirm the contact details for a company before adding it to your building’s directory, click View Details. Note that company information entered by another building may be limited in editability.
To add a company to your building’s directory, click Add to My Directory to the right of a specific listing.
If the company you’re trying to add is not listed on BuildingLink’s Master List, click the green Create new company button in the top right corner.
Help us avoid duplicates! Please be sure the company is not already on BuildingLink's Master List by searching the Master List first since any company you create will also be added to BuildingLink's Master List.
In the Create New Company menu, fill out all company information under Basic Info. Next to Show on the Resident Local Businesses Directory? Click Yes or No. If you click Yes, the contact information for that company will be visible to residents after you hit the Save button. If you click No, only staff members can view this company.
If you would like to add internal listings for contractors who complete work requests in your building, please view our help topic on the Vendors Directory.
All information entered into the "Basic Info" section will appear on the BuildingLink master list, as well as in your own Directory of Local Businesses.
For information on tracking Vendor Compliance, click here.
In the Building-Specific Information section, you can enter your building's specific contact at the company. This information is for your building only and will not be added to BuildingLink's Master List.
Make sure to click Save after entering all information.
After adding businesses to the Directory of Local Businesses, you can also add Offers (coupons, discounts, etc.) from those businesses.
