    Overview

    ImageR allows staff to easily open and close packages (through our Event Log functionality) using OCR technology - Optical Character Recognition. With ImageR, packages can be captured and recorded in the system simply by hovering the camera of an Android or iOS device over the package label. ImageR will automatically find the name and barcode from the label, and either record the package (in open mode) or close the package (in close mode).

    Accessing ImageR

    ImageR is a free feature in the BuildingLink GEO app, which is available through both the Google Play Store for Android, and the Apple App Store for iOS. To download GEO, click here. After you open your GEO app, simply select the blue ImageR icon. If you don't have a device and are looking to get one in order to use ImageR, we recommend the Motorola MotoG7 Play.

     

    Opening Events with ImageR

    ImageR has two modes: Open Events and Close Events. To record a new package in the system (open a new event), click on the blue ImageR icon in your GEO app, and be sure the Open Events tab is selected. Next, place the viewfinder over the label of the package you wish to record. Be sure the entire label is in view. ImageR will tell you that it is "Scanning for the information" and in a few seconds, the Unit# and barcode will automatically populate. 

     

     

    You can use the Rescan button if you wish to erase and recapture the information (Ex. if you accidentally hover over the wrong package). 

     

     

    Next, select your Event Type manually and add in your comment (we recommend the company name - Ex. Macy's, Amazon, Best Buy, etc.) After you've scanned a package and correctly selected the event type (Ex. Fedex), your device will recognize future Fedex barcodes and automatically select the event type, in addition to the Unit# and barcode. Select the green Save Event option when the entry is complete. Once the Saved! message pops up, you can repeat this process for any remaining packages you wish to record.

    Closing Events with ImageR

    To close packages with ImageR, click on the blue ImageR icon in your GEO app, and be sure the Close Events tab is selected. Next, place the viewfinder over the label of the package you wish to close. Again, be sure the entire label is in view. ImageR will tell you that the package has been found, and give you the ability to continue scanning additional barcodes if the resident has more than one package in the system. When you've finished scanning all of the packages being given to the resident, select the green Close Events option. Enter your closing comment (Ex. the name of the person you are giving the package to), collect your signature, and select the red Close Event option.
